Creamy Parmesan Brussel Sprouts Gratin with Bacon

Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the trimmed and halved Brussels sprouts and cook for 10-12 minutes or until they are slightly browned and tender. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  5. Add the flour and whisk until the mixture becomes smooth and bubbly.
  6. Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
  7. Add the grated parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and stir until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth.
  8. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked Brussels sprouts and crumbled bacon.
  9. Pour the parmesan sauce over the top of the Brussels sprouts and bacon, stirring to combine.
  10. Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Note: You can substitute the bacon with pancetta or prosciutto for added flavor. You can also add breadcrumbs or more grated parmesan cheese to the top of the gratin before baking for a crispy texture.
